Special follower

I would not normally make a special mention about someone that follows my blog, however this Follower is special!

She is special for two reasons:

First: She was my very first Follower, ever!

Second: She is a very talented felter and the creative mind behind Wolff In Sheep's Clothing.

I have seen some of her work first hand and it is just beautiful, the colours are amazing, the textures incredible and I love that she is so passionate about what she does!

Weekend Painting Project

A few weeks ago - just after we got back from NZ - I had to pick up the wonderful J from work in Jesmond.  I got there a bit early so I could go check out the Salvation Army store on Newcastle Road. After a bit of hunting I found some 'treasures'.

Some of my 'finds' I brought with a plan in mind, others I just loved the shape of and some just inspired me.

As last weekend was absolutely beautiful, in true spring style, I grabbed a box and headed outside to make a spray-booth to start on my projects. I started our with this little find:

Still in the plastic wrapping, this little frame was just $1. Originally I didn't think that I would keep the little saying inside, but in the end I decided that I liked it.  Although I though that the frame was lovely in white.... I have a thing for yellow at the moment .... 

This little gem I fell in love with for it's shape and overall cuteness; the front is actually lovely as it is ......

But the back .... 

So clearly she had to be painted gloss white. 

My very helpful sister was sunning herself in the back yard and offering many helpful suggestions along with my other little helper and weekend house guest!

A bedside light & a hanging feature..

Projects 3 & 4 – A bedside light & A hanging feature

For the bedside light I brought a the VATE light from IKEA.  I also brought the MORUP light cover (like a rice paper ball) in purple for the hanging feature – it was a good day in IKEA!!

I had some smaller white rice paper ball left over from our engagement party (hanging in the big tree in my parents backyard) and used one of those as well.

The butterflies I cut out of Chinese rice paper and a range of other decorative papers that I have collected overtime.  I don’t suggest that you try this unless you have a bit of time up your sleeves! It is not hard but a little time consuming – I ended up doing mine in front of the TV each night for a week...

I attached the butterflies in a random pattern with just ordinary PVA glue that I had hanging around.  I added antennas with coloured thread and then added just a little ‘bling’ just because...
